Vice Ganda And BF Broke Up; Haters Broke Out!

MANILA – “We are separated but we are never apart.”

These were the words of Vice Ganda as he opened up about his failed relationship with his former boyfriend, whom he still refused to identify.

In an interview with “The Buzz” host Kris Aquino on Sunday, Vice Ganda related how he and his boyfriend, who is reportedly a basketball player, first met.

“Nag-meet kami, common friends. Nanood ako ng game. Magaling naman talaga, sobrang galing. Pero kaibi-kaibigan lang. Tapos nagpunta sila sa ‘Showtime,’ nanood sila, chikahan. Natuwa siya sa akin, nagandahan siya sa akin. Hindi niya napigilan ang lahat. Marupok siya, mapusok ako. Go lang ng go, fight lang ng fight,” he said.

Saying their separation was mutual, Vice Ganda said: “I believe that the only way to keep him is to let him go. Nag-peak na kami. Ang ganda ng samahan namin, ang ganda ng pagkakaibigan namin. Feeling ko ‘yun na ‘yun.”

Following their split, Vice Ganda is hoping his former boyfriend would eventually find someone he can spend the rest of his life with.

“Kasi nga ang hirap maka-move on kung masyado na kaming na-associate sa isa’t isa. Gusto ko siyang magka-girlfriend, gusto ko siyang magkaasawa. Lahat ng chi-chikahin niya, lahat ng kakaibiganin niya ang sasabihin ‘Naku meron ka namang ganyan, kayo naman ni ganyan,’” he said.

Despite this, Vice Ganda said he will forever treat his former boyfriend as his best friend.

“Para na kaming matalik na magkaibigan na. Para sa kanya din, para ma-explore niya ang life niya, para marami siyang magawa. We are separated but we are never apart. Forever ko siyang magiging friend kasi mabuting tao siya,” he said.

Asked if he has any message for his ex, the “it’s Showtime” host said, “I wish him luck. Gusto ko siyang maging masaya habambuhay. Ang dami niyang plano, ang dami niyang gustong puntahan, ang dami niyang gustong kilalanin. Mas magagawa niya yun dahil malayang malaya na siya.”

“Habambuhay ko siya panonooring umaangat at habambuhay akong papalakpak habang umaangat siya. Mabuting tao kasi talaga ‘yun,” he said.

Vice Ganda and his former boyfriend have known each other for five years.

I am not really a big fan of Vice Ganda. But I always admired him as part of the LGBT community. In many ways that we might not be able to acknowledge, he was able to use his fame to push the “gay agenda” in the Philippines together with well known gay personalities like Boy Abunda, Aiza Segguera and Danton Remoto, to say the least.

And just recently, news of Vice Ganda’s breakup with partner made a huge deluge in the entertainment industry raving so many reactions from fans and haters alike. Being part of the LGBT community, I may have the bias to lean towards Vice’s defense.

In Philippine Star’s FB page, I was able to get a screenshot of one hater who, considering the benefit of the doubt, might just be bickering on Vice Ganda rather than using the pronoun “mga” having the gay stereotyped in her comment in a derogatory manner., bakla ako, bakla, vice ganda

We are all human and we have the right to love.

Maybe homophobes are still holding on to the myth that ALL gays are using material things to lure men (especially straight) into a relationship. I might sound hypocrite if I will defy such mythical fact or factual myth. But maybe, some are still doing these things.

I can still remember a line in one gay show I watched: “O di ibigay ang mga kelangan ng mga lalaking yan basta nakukuha rin natin ang mga kelangan natin sakanila. Gamitan lang yan.”

But don’t you think that everything has already changed. Or nothing has really changed. GAYS ARE CAPABLE OF LOVING AND BEING LOVED. Bakl man o hindi.

I hope other people will not stereotype gays as they consider them “contagious” of what we are just looking for: LOVE.

I can’t speak on behalf of Vice Ganda but I can definitely vow to be deeply committed in defense of all those voiceless and nameless gay people who are living the life of normal people in a pretty abnormal world full of haters. I know there will still be plenty of hatred we will hear, feel and see. But I know that just like the word that we are tagged: gay, we will, in the end, be happy.
