#WearLove2015: Wear Love on Heroes Day
As the country commemorates the valor of our national heroes, the LoveYourself, Inc. encourages you to serve as a modern-day hero for HIV/AIDS prevention by registering at go.loveyourself.ph/wearlove2015 for the #WearLove2015 open photo shoot on August 29 and 30 at Anglo Building on Shaw Boulevard.
Being a donor model, you can get the iconic LoveYourself shirt, an editorial portrait wearing it, plus the services of a professional celebrity makeup artist for only PhP1,200.00. The organization also now offers a “duo” and a “groupie” shoot that is perfect for couples and barkadas amounting only to PhP600.00.
LoveYourself founder and Executive Director Ronnievin G. Pagtakhan said: “#WearLove has a multi-fold purpose, including promoting our cause, reintroducing social media as a platform for people to help the advocacy, and supporting the activities of LoveYourself.” He added that it has been a traditional fundraising activity, wherein its initial conduct has become an instrument to the first mass screening for HIV back in 2011.
Shirts for the shoot are available and can be bought separately at PhP600.00 only. The organization also notes that slots are limited, so make sure to register early.
All proceeds of the photoshoot will fund the LoveYourself’s free HIV screening, counseling, peer education and community building activities for highly affected individuals, particularly members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.
Being a hero in our own little way
For the past three years, the LoveYourself have gotten help from some celebrities and co-advocates to ripple its causes, including renowned Ang Ladlad Partylist founder Danton Remoto; TV host and LGBT advocate Boy Abunda; award-winning film director Joey Reyes; character actors Paulo Avelino, and Rocco Nacino; and even Filipina beauties and brains, such as the Bb. Pilipinas candidates and title holders, and rights advocate Risa Hontiveros.
LoveYourself’s latest celebrity advocate is Manhunt International 2012 June Macasaet, who has a heart for helping other people protect and prevent themselves from contracting HIV and other sexually transmitted infections through awareness and education.
“I’d like to save lives by making people aware of HIV/AIDS, and to inspire people living with it that there is still hope and chance in life after it,” Macasaet said.
Despite being a non-profit, non-stock organization, LoveYourself has already helped nearly 9,000 individuals to know their HIV status for this year alone.
Recently, last August 21 (Ninoy Aquino Day), the organization held a free HIV screening, counseling, peer education for members of clans and societal groups dubbed as “FratPad” to instill the virtue of self-worth by protecting oneself, and sharing positive ideals to others.
Ultimately, LoveYourself believes that through our collective efforts, we can be the heroes for individuals to adopt a more confident, optimistic outlook in life and become an impetus for change to establish a better community to live in.
