Melinda Rabinowitz: “Call Center Reps In The Philippines Are College Graduate But Are Stupid”

 

July 09, 2014 04:30 Manila Time — A certain Melinda Samson Rabinowitz posted on her Facebook account expressing her anger to call centers in the Philippines. She mentioned the names AT&T, Western Union, New York Tel (PLDT in the Philippines). With just a screenshot of her post, her ire became viral especially affecting the Filipino community working in BPO’s. It was quoted that customer service representatives here in the Philippines are college graduates but are still stupid.

According to a blog (angkulit.com):

“According to his friend, the message was misunderstood, it was directed at the two firms in the U.S(United States) and the third company that was the U.S Subsidiary of a Philippine Corporation not the entire call center industry in the Philippines.”

Meanwhile, some Filipinos from the call center industry reacted to the misguided ire of Melinda Rabinowitz.

Good thing Melinda Samson Rabinowitz didn’t trend on Twitter. Yet call center group spread their dismay regarding the matter.

After the incident, I tried to look for the account of Melinda Rabinowitz and I saw a post from her. She apologized for what she said saying that “it is my prayer that this letter will bring healing to all Filipinos worldwide that I offended in my post.”

Perhaps, this woman should also realize and reflect that maybe you get bad customer service because you’re also a bad customer.
