Make-Up Madness PH: The Business Of Everlasting Beauty
Makeup artistry is a booming and blooming business for both artists who cater service and people who need such service. Every year, there are events where people need to be prepped once in a while and look the best that they can be. There are corporate events, fashion shows, and even the noteworthy celebrations for a person’s life like graduation, debuts, and weddings.
As first I thought that being gay would give me the edge of becoming a makeup artist. After all, gays are known for the innate creativity that they have. I was wrong. I never tried makeup on myself before and it proved overwhelming when you first hold a brush in your hands. It’s surreal. No wonder, I invested so much money just for me to learn hair and makeup artistry. I am very fortunate that I was nurtured in two of the top schools where I can learn from: Maquillage Professionnel (MP) School of Makeup Artistry for my makeup and School of Fashion and the Arts (SoFA) under Lourd Ramos for my hair techniques.
While I am so privileged to be in the creative hands of the industry’s bests, it is quite so hard to be on your own when you start in the “real palette” of this industry. Now you also need to think of the tools that you need to include in your makeup train case. And mind you, the brands are endless. There is also the consideration in building your own portfolio. And most importantly, the onslaught of the competition is about to begin: both from the great and, unfortunately, from the “ones in need” (those who provide services for a lower price just to book clients). And that’s just part of the reality.
Yours truly with my sister.
Fortunately, I was able to get to know another team who can provide training/courses for affordable prices, excellent support from top notch industry’s authorities, and also the training that will hone you and build your portfolio in the long run. Please embrace the new leader in this craft where art is an everlasting beauty, Make-Up Madness Philippines.
Janet Guasque-Wen, founder of Make-Up Madness Philippines.
Make-Up Madness Philippines is founded and headed by Janet Guasque. She is a prolific learner accumulating training from sought-after and best makeup artistry schools in the Philippines. She studied in Make Up Designory, which if you are aware of this school then you’ll probably know that this is the “Harvard of make-up schools.” Thus, you’ll only get the best from it. More so, she practiced makeup artistry in Brisbane, Australia in her early 20s. Some of the noteworthy jobs that she handled here in the Philippines was being the Makeup Director for previous fashion shows such as Manila Fashion Festival, Philippine Fashion Week, Ms. Tourism Philippines, Miss Bikini International, Mr. Philippines, UP Clothing Technology Fashion Shows. Some of the works of MUM were actually featured in Style Bible PH as well as Preview Magazine.

What I like most about Make-Up Madness Philippines (or MUM in short) are the affordable courses that they offer. I have always known that makeup artistry is synonymous to shelling out a big fortune. And when I say big, It. Is. Really. That. Big. But in MUM, you get equally up-to-date training at a reasonable price.
I already have two certifications from MUM. It only shows how affordable their courses are.
The pedagogy that they use is making sure that their students are equipped with the basics first and helpful techniques in doing what they would like to achieve. And I can really attest to this because as a newbie in this industry, I can only take in pieces of information that make sense to me as a starter and yet leads to results that are, in one way or another, professional.

Another thing that makes MUM at par with different hair and makeup artistry schools or training organisations is the fact that they provide OJTs that will really hone you after you get your certification. This is one of the reasons why I highly recommend MUM to aspiring HMUA. When I started in the makeup artistry school, I was so excited to finish because I dreamt of doing an OJT and do an actual test with what I have learned in school. But to my dismay, only those who are already excelling (experienced but are not yet certified) were given the chance to go on OJT to represent the school. Whereas, newbies like me would need to start from scratch and find my way up to the top. And have I told you that it is close to impossible doing such feat?
Backstage during the Fashion Revolution–the very first fashion show where I worked as a MUA.
But in MUM, regardless if you are experienced over the years or just a newbie (provided that you have a certification in basic makeup artistry), you can join in OJTs that will really challenge you and give you a feel of how it is to be a professional makeup artist in the real world. They also provide an exclusive OJT where you will be trained in the different events for makeup artistry. And I am so fortunate that the very first project that I joined in with MUM was a fashion show with some of the well-known designers in Manila.

And the last thing that made me fell in love with Make-Up Madness Philippines is the people working endlessly to produce the next batch of great hair and makeup artists in the country. As a newbie, I am very particular of the pedagogy and how my teachers handle me–both my successes and shortcomings and both my quest for perfection and facing imperfections. And to tell you honestly, even a newbie would not be intimidated to commit mistakes because he/she will be guided properly and professionally.

So if you are thinking of learning makeup artistry or would like to be certified, then check out Make-Up Madness Philippines and learn some of the sought-after and up-to-date yet affordable courses that they offer. You will never go wrong with the courses that they offer and the people who are helping you to be certified. Bloom and be blooming with Make-Up Madness Philippines where makeup artistry is an everlasting beauty.
