GrabTaxi: Grab Yourself From Commuter Woes

Let’s admit it, Manila is a heaven of hell. You will get to experience the worst pollution (noise, air, etc), crowded places, winding roads, heavy traffic, and crazy foot bridges that you need to cross for you to arrive at your destination. Add up the hassle of getting a taxi during peak hours, rude drivers, mathematically-challenged computations and the like. These are just some of the things we experience every day as commuters.

Good thing, there are now other means of getting a taxi that promises speed, safety, and certainty to us commuters. Now let’s get to know GrabTaxi.

GrabTaxi is a smartphone-based taxi booking and dispatching service. Their vision is to revamp the Philippines’ taxi industry, making it a safer and more efficient means of transport we can all be proud of. So long that you have an android phone or smartphone with a mobile data, you can book, ride and arrive at your destination.

Personally, I fell in love instantly with GrabTaxi since it is the very first smartphone-based taxi booking service that I’ve tried. And my first experience was actually blog-worthy.

So let me give you 3 reasons why you must also patronize GrabTaxi.

Avoid the hassle of making “para”

It’s not all the time that Manila boasts a luxury of cabs, especially during rush hours. And it’s quite so disappointing looking for a taxi and being caught robbed off the taxi you just made “para.” Hassle noh? So the consequences might be: you will look for another taxi, be late to your appointment or just get your phone and secure a taxi for your own.

Booking is quite easy. These are the 4 simple steps:

Avoid rude and mathematically-challenged drivers

Once you are able to book your taxi/car, you will get to meet your driver. It will show up in your booking details. In my experience, all drivers are polite and professional. They are not the usual taxi drivers that I get so used to that are very abusive (e.g. haggling for an additional fee because the destination is quite near or because it’s traffic). Plus, since there is an estimated amount for the ride (usually the amount that you will pay is lower than the estimated fee plus the service fee of P70), you will have a chance to prepare your money—make it exact or nearest to the amount you need to pay for. Unlike others who are rounding it off to the nearest f*&()% of their advantage.

Avoid being rerouted, it has GPS

Being a probinsyano, it doesn’t make sense to me why taxi drivers wouldn’t know a certain location, especially if that’s where you get your bread and butter. Mostly, I ride a taxi because I am not aware of a location too. Should these drivers be required to take basic geography class just for them to give satisfaction to their customers? Or are they just making this TTM (tanga tangahan mode) moves for them to reroute you and earn more? But with GrabTaxi, rerouting is quite not an option for these drivers as there is GPS. Not unless you are so familiar with the shorter route to get there.

Some tips:

  • Always double check the location where you will be picked and dropped off. Sometimes, it wouldn’t match. You can’t blame the driver all the time because you just chose Greenhills instead of Greenbelt.
  • Call the taxi via Viber. They have a mobile data that they use. Plus, it is a safety precaution to make use of call than a text message.
  • Always check their Facebook page and get the latest promo codes that will make your booking worthwhile.

Our generation has indeed embraced the loving arms of technology. And it is such a comfort for commuters to really have a smart option of technology bridging the wide and rusted gap in our transport system. So the next time that you are in need of a taxi or a car, use GrabTaxi. It will really grab you from common commuters’ hassles.
