FEU Student Who Slammed PLHIV Isn’t A Med Tech Student As He Claims To Be

A few days ago, I have blogged “FEU Med Tech Student Slams PLHIV For Posting Anniversary HIV Confirmatory Result.” The article was primarily to show the sides of the parties involved. All screenshots were as is. Plus, my personal commentary about the issue as an HIV awareness blogger and DOH Certified HIV Counselor was added on the side. A commentary that never bullied anyone and aims to be professional, educational, and inquisitive.

To start with, the blog was made in good faith to break the stigma. There have been plenty of things that have been said about HIV/AIDS. As an advocate, I am blogging positively to raise awareness and not to lambast people. There were mixed reactions about it and it was natural for such a sensitive topic. In my mind, I hoped that the blog would give an avenue for Mr. Meyer to learn from the situation and take it as a constructive criticism from someone who is concerned. But it turned out that it left him a different impression.

I waited for the fire to turn into an ember. With both parties having their own stories and explanations to tell, it wasn’t that easy. But the fire wasn’t left to die. It was even escalated to a forest fire.

After I made the blog, I waited for the reactions of the people involved. Being the center of it all, I checked Jeron’s wall and this was his statement. These were their statements as of September 27, 2017.

On the other hand, Faustine kept silent after it.

While forgiveness and silence prevailed from the two, this was the statement of Ken Andrei Meyer after the release of the blog:

I would like to say that I know where you’re coming from. Perhaps if I was your age, I would also react that way. But I cannot babysit you for your age and your statements. I am here to keep things into proper perspective and would’ve wanted US (yes, all of us and that means I don’t exclude myself) to learn from the brouhaha that the issue has caused.

And since you have already called out my blog, let me personally give my another two cents to you. I am now speaking as the owner of this blog and not as an HIV awareness blogger or an HIV Counselor.

  1. I am not “unequal.” I don’t know all of you. Jeron, Faustine, and you, Ken. But as a third party seeing your comments prompted me to make an article about it for:
    • The sole purpose of breaking the stigma and not to break people. If that is what you think, then revisit the blog and revisit your statements.
    • Debunking some of the things that you’ve said about HIV. That is my duty as an HIV awareness blogger. Just like how makeup vlogger give their impression on new makeups in the market. Your statements were out in the “market” and I need to correct some of those.
    • and question, not just yours, but also Faustine’s statements.
  2. Yes, I am against cyberbullying. And you have seen that probably on my personal FB account that I spoke about our project in Manila Startup Summit 2017 regarding cyberbullying. Being the winner of last year’s Digital Halo-Halo Hackathon by Facebook, our project against anti-cyberbullying won. Hence, I wouldn’t have forgotten my cause for it just to lambast you. You can also re-read my first blog and check if there are derogatory remarks that I have written. If so, please comment below so I will know and I will apologize for it.
  3. I am Joemar Belleza–the creator of the website and page. At the upper corner on the menu pane, there’s an “About The Author” page. You will see all of the pieces of information about me. That’s part of my transparency of who I am and what I do. And yes, I will be waiting for your legal action.

But this blog wouldn’t end without me cleaning the name of FEU Med Tech department that you claim to be part of. You mentioned that in your comments and that’s the information stated on your FB account. And I take your word for it.

Unfortunately, the truth will always set us free. Your fellow Tamaraws (who have worked hard to earn their Med Tech degree, live up to the core values of FEU, and prove their competencies and professionalism) have found out that you are not a Med Tech student as you claim to be.

I will leave this here already. At least, we are able to clear the name of FEU’s Institute of  Arts and Sciences much so the Med Tech department. And I salute the FEU alumni who reached out to me to make me aware of the this to make everything clear and to stand up with the core values of FEU in this very sensitive issue.

Note: The fire isn’t far from subsiding any time soon. I will stick with the issue written in the first article and stop here. At least we already know that Mr. Meyer is not a Med Tech student from FEU as he claims to be and as clarified by the Assistant Dean of FEU IAS.
